Harvin, Spikes Status Not Official Yet

ESPN reported on this afternoon’s College Football Live that Percy Harvin and Brandon Spikes are going to miss this Saturday’s game against Hawai’i.

That contradicts their SEC “blogger”/beat writer Chris Low who said yesterday that the two will be reevaluated later this week. That also happens to be the most updated ESPN.com article on the subject.

The Orlando Sentinel‘s UF beat writer Jeremy Fowler reported today that Charlie Strong considers Spikes a game-time decision. The Gainesville Sun, Miami Herald, Florida Times-Union (Jacksonville), Tampa Tribune, and St. Pete Times all are reporting that they might miss the game, but not that they’re out. Same with all of the top sports news websites (CBS Sportsline, FoxSports.com, SI.com, etc).

In other words, either the CFL producer jumped the gun or at least someone didn’t edit the graphic properly. They are both still on the questionable/doubtful side of things for now.

If you hear/see someone try to tell you they’re officially out, this is probably where they got that report from. It’s not the first time they’ve been wrong with an “Out of the Tunnel” graphic, so it’s not that big of a deal. As always, until you see a quote from a coach, just be patient and wait for the official word.

Hey Dave- in case you hadn’t heard, the fans have been asked to wear white for a “White Out Cancer.” Apparently, the team has also asked Hawaii for permission to wear white at home for the opener.

    Peace
    Dan

Heard about the white out, but not that the team wants to wear white themselves. Got a link for that?
